Steps to Register a Company
- Choose Company Type: Proprietary (Pty Ltd), public, or other structure
- Company Name: Choose a name or use your ACN as the company name
- Registered Office: Provide an Australian address for the registered office
- Company Rules: Adopt replaceable rules from the Corporations Act or create a constitution
- Share Structure: Determine number and type of shares, and issue to shareholders
- Officeholders: Appoint at least 1 director (must be Australian resident) and obtain Director ID
- Register with ASIC: Lodge application through Business Registration Service

- Director ID (applied through Australian Business Registry Services)
- Written consent from all proposed members and officeholders
- Share structure details and member consent
- Registered office address and principal place of business
- Company name (or use ACN as name)
After Registration ??? Ongoing Obligations
- Display company name and ACN on all documents and at business premises
- Keep company details up to date on the ASIC register
- Maintain company records and share register
- Pay annual company review fee
- Lodge annual financial reports (if required)
- Register for ABN, TFN, and GST (if turnover exceeds $75,000)
